Dr. Lester Wilson Lang passed away surrounded by his family at Laredo Medical Center on Monday, February 6, 2012.

He was born in Austin, Texas to Lester M. Lang and Mary Frances Wilson Lang. Lester was married to Leticia Garcia Lang. Prior to entering medical school, he served in the Navy. He attended UTMB in Galveston, Texas and graduated as a physician. He was board certified in Family Practice and Psychiatry. He also studied Psychiatry at Pratt University in Maryland, VA. Later in his career, he was President of the Alamo Chapter of Family Practice of San Antonio for 2 terms.

Arriving to Laredo, he opened his practice with his friend/partner, Dr. Jesus I. Aguirre-Burgos. Opening the first night clinic in Laredo, Laredo Minor Emergency Clinic on Corpus Christi St.

Lester enjoyed hunting with his son and son in law in Mason, Texas. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed flying all over south Texas.-He loved to travel to Mexico and Europe. He also enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. He will be remembered as a compassionate human being and a great listener. His patients would travel from great distances to see him.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Francis and Lester M. Lang and his sister, Marilyn Parsons.

He is survived by his wife, Leticia G. Lang; children, Jonathan (Ellen) Lang, Robin (Al) Blankenship; step-children, Yvette G. (Shelby) Barrera, David Carlos Garcia; sister, Shirley Guillet; brother, Arthur (Jill) Lang; grandchildren, Matthew Blankenship, Andrew Blankenship, Sara Grace Blankenship, Josh Lang, Emily Lang, Alexis Nichole Barrera, Avery Barrera, Shelby James Barrera; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
